Hit 500 followers on my art account and felt weirdly empty

Everyone keeps posting about how great it feels to hit a milestone like 500 or 1000 followers. But honestly, when I got there last week, I just felt kinda hollow. Most of those follows came from a single post that blew up, and now I get way less engagement on my actual art. Has anyone else had a milestone that felt more like a letdown than a win?

yeah but like, was it actually the follower milestone that felt hollow, or was it more that the attention came from a post that wasn't really 'you'? i've seen people hit big numbers off of a meme or a trend piece and then they're stuck trying to keep that same energy while their real art gets ignored. did you try posting something that was totally just your usual style after that blow up post, and see if the new followers even cared? because if they just liked the one thing, that's basically a ghost town with a big count.
