Took me 45 minutes to find the fuse box on a blind date's car

So I'm on this date and her car won't start, I offer to jump it but I can't find the fuse box anywhere. Turns out it's hidden behind a panel in the glove compartment, looked it up on my phone after 45 minutes of shame. Has anyone else had a car that hides basic stuff like that?

Even worse when the battery is under the back seat on some models.

Yeah that's a classic car manufacturer prank right there. Most Japanese cars from the 2010s love hiding fuses behind random trim pieces. Pop the hood next time and check the main fuse block there first, usually faster than searching the interior.

Hart.mark is on to something, it's like car designers are playing hide and seek with us. That whole hiding fuses behind trim pieces is just one layer of it. I've noticed it's not just cars either, appliances and electronics are all doing the same thing now. They put the battery or the reset button in the most awkward spot possible, like behind the water filter slot on a fridge. It makes you wonder if engineers sit around trying to come up with the most inconvenient place to stick something. Is that just how everything is built these days?
