Just realized my neighbor's doorbell camera caught me walking my dog every morning
I saw the little red light turn on when I passed his house yesterday. It's a Ring camera, and it's pointed right at the sidewalk. He probably gets a notification with a video clip of me every single day at 7:15 AM. Feels like I'm being logged without my say so. Has anyone else had a neighbor's surveillance make them feel watched in their own neighborhood?

Honestly, I just assume I'm on camera everywhere now. That same neighbor's camera probably caught the guy who stole his Amazon package last year, you know? It's pointed at the sidewalk for a reason, not just at you.

Yeah but that's the creepiest part. It's not about catching bad guys, it's about watching everyone. Feels like we traded privacy for a false sense of safety.

Understand where you're coming from, but I see it like felix824. My street had a string of car break-ins last fall. A neighbor's doorbell cam caught a clear shot of the guy's face and his license plate. Police had him in two days. That camera isn't logging you, it's watching the public space where stuff actually happens. I'd rather have that record than not when it matters.
