Serious question, what if you ignored a weird noise from your car for too long?

Tbh, I thought my mechanic was just upselling me when he pointed out a faint clicking sound last month, but it turned into a $800 repair for a failing CV joint after a trip to Flagstaff. Anyone else had a small car thing blow up into a big bill?

Learned that lesson the hard way. Ignored a weird hum and ended up needing a whole new wheel bearing.

Sometimes a hum is just road noise from new tires or a bad patch of asphalt. I've driven cars for months with a faint hum that never got worse and just went away on its own. Fixing every little sound can lead to wasting money on parts that didn't need replacing.

My buddy ignored a faint hum like you said, @the_max, and his wheel fell off on the highway. True story.
