My cousin pointed out I was overthinking my morning routine and it actually helped
I mean, I used to plan every single minute from 6 to 8 AM, which just made me stressed if I was even a little late. She basically said, 'You're trying to run a marathon before you've had coffee, just pick three things.' So now I just focus on making my bed, having one cup of coffee, and taking my dog for a 15 minute walk, and everything else fits in after. Has anyone else had a simple piece of advice totally change a daily habit?

My grandma always said to put your shoes on to get anything done. I see that same idea in your three things and the water tip, just a small anchor to start the day right. It's wild how the simplest rule can cut through all the noise.

My old boss had a rule about the first 90 minutes of the workday being for deep focus only. It made me realize my whole morning was just prep for that block. So my three things are really about getting my brain ready, not just checking tasks off a list. It's the same logic as @murphy.val drinking water, you're setting a condition for yourself to succeed later. The overthinking came from treating my morning like a performance review instead of just laying the groundwork.
