Unpopular opinion: I thought my old router was fine until my neighbor in apartment 4B asked about my Wi-Fi password.

He mentioned seeing my network name pop up on his device list, which made me check my settings. Turns out I'd been running on WPA2 with the default admin login for, like, five years... anyone else have a wake-up call about their home network?

My buddy found out his smart fridge was on a public guest network for two years.

Yeah that admin page thing is huge. @the_drew, tell your buddy to log into his router and change that default login right now. I had to do the same thing after finding a bunch of weird devices on my network. The password is often just "admin" and "password" on a sticker on the router.

Did you ever change the default password on the router itself, or just the Wi-Fi password? A lot of people forget that part and the admin page is still wide open to anyone on your network.
