PSA: Stop using 'password' in your wifi network name

I was at a coffee shop in Portland last week and saw their wifi was called 'CoffeeShop Password is coffee123'. It got me thinking how many people do this at home too. My neighbor's network is literally 'TheSmiths123' which is basically giving hackers a head start. I run a pest control business so I see peoples routers when I'm working in basements and attics, and it blows my mind how many have their street name or family name in the SSID. Security experts say this makes it way easier for someone to guess your password since they already know half the puzzle. Why do people think broadcasting their personal info is a good idea? Has anyone else noticed their neighborhood networks being way too obvious?

Haha "yippeekiyay" as a password is both genius and terrible at the same time. Totally guilty of this myself though. My wifi is named "ILoveTacos" and I swear the password is just "tacotuesday" because I thought it would be funny. Now every time I see a neighbor kid staring at my router from their driveway I realize I basically handed them the keys to my digital life. Guess we all need a little reminder that clever =/= secure.

The guy on my street named his wifi "NakatomiPlaza" which is a Die Hard reference and I thought that was clever until I realized his password was literally "yippeekiyay". Two guesses and I was in his network.
