My home network firewall blocked 12,000 connection attempts last month

I was checking my pfsense logs and saw the number. It's a mix of bots scanning for open ports and some stuff from weird IPs in places like Moldova. Some people say this is just normal internet noise and not a real threat, others think each one is a potential breach point. How much do you guys actually worry about these background scans?

My old Tomato router used to log a few hundred a day. It's just background noise from bots and compromised devices. I keep my stuff patched and use strong passwords, so I don't lose sleep over the port scans. The real worry is a targeted attack, not this random spray and pray.

Guess Gavinramirez never saw my 50,000 from last Tuesday.

Wait, did you say your router logged a few hundred a day? That's actually wild to me. My stuff is quiet most of the time, maybe a couple tries a week. A few hundred daily would make me so nervous, even if it is just bots. I'd be checking everything constantly.
