Remember when returns took like 5 minutes? Now one thing took me 3 hours.

I had to return a defective blender at the big box store last week and it took forever. They wanted me to stand there and call their helpline while the customer service lady stared at me. After 45 minutes on hold I finally got approved but then she had to scan like 6 different barcodes and enter a code from her manager. Has anyone else noticed how much slower returns have gotten over the past few years?

I actually returned something at Target last week and it only took maybe 10 minutes from start to finish. The employee just scanned my receipt, checked the item, and handed me a refund on the spot. No calls to anyone or manager codes needed. I wonder if it depends more on the specific store and how they handle things than some big change in return policies everywhere. Maybe the store you went to has bad management or their systems are just outdated. Not saying your experience wasn't frustrating, just that I haven't seen the same slowdown myself.

Laughed at this because I once watched a guy at Best Buy spend 25 minutes trying to return a toaster before they finally told him they don't even sell toasters there.
