That $80 sous vide stick I barely use anymore
I bought an Anova sous vide cooker back in 2016 for like 80 bucks after all the food blogs hyped it up. For a solid year I was making perfect steaks and chicken breasts every weekend, felt like a pro. Then I got busy with work and kids and now it just sits in the back of my cabinet gathering dust. I pulled it out last month to make salmon for a dinner party and the WiFi pairing took 20 minutes before it worked. By the time I got the water bath up to temp my guests had already shown up and I had to pan sear everything anyway. So much for that fancy gadget saving me time, it just made me feel dumb in front of everyone. Has anyone else bought a kitchen tool that ended up being more hassle than it was worth?

Saw a guy on Reddit call his sous vide a "glorified crock pot with anxiety" and that stuck with me.

Glorified crock pot with anxiety" is the most accurate thing I've ever heard, @bennett.patricia.
