Unpopular opinion: deleting 400 songs off my running playlist in one sitting made me faster than any training plan
Two months ago I counted my playlist and it was 612 songs. I was skipping like 8 out of every 10 tracks. So one Sunday I sat there and cut it down to 212. Kept only stuff that made me want to move the second it came on.
My 5k time went from 27:40 to 25:12 over the next 6 weeks. Same routes, same shoes, same sleep. The only thing that changed was I stopped hitting skip every 30 seconds and just ran.
People love to make running complicated. Buy the $180 shoes, get the watch, follow the plan with 14 different types of runs. Nobody wants to admit the mental part is most of it and a bloated playlist is just dead weight.
Curious if anyone else has trimmed something dumb like this and seen real results, or if I'm just giving myself credit for nothing.
