Lost my entire photo archive from 2002 to 2009 when a hard drive crashed in 2014

I was sitting in my apartment in Austin when the drive started clicking, and by the time the data recovery guy quoted me $1,200 I knew those vacation photos and family birthdays were gone for good. Has anyone else just accepted losing old digital files because the cost to save them felt too steep?

Paid $900 to get back my kid's first steps from a dead laptop. Worth every penny. Some memories you just can't replace no matter how careful you are with backups. That clicking sound is pure dread.

Tbh I used to think 900 bucks was insane for data recovery. You just changed my whole view on that.

Ha! That clicking sound is basically your wallet screaming before the drive even dies. Glad you got the video back though, that's one of those things you can't put a price on lol.
