Found a trick for stamping overlays without slip lines

I was doing a 400 square foot stamped patio in Phoenix last week and kept fighting those ugly slip lines where the stamp drags. My old boss always said to use a release agent but that stuff is messy. So I tried lightly misting the surface with water before placing the stamp and it slid off clean every time. Has anyone else messed around with water vs release for stamp work?

Best trick I've seen in years - water works way better than release for clean stamps.

Yeah I actually saw a video about that the other day, someone was testing both methods side by side. Water definitely seemed to give a way cleaner pull with less ghosting on the paper.

Hold up, I gotta push back on this one. I tried the water trick a few times and ended up with more problems than it solved. The moisture made the concrete grab the stamp in weird spots, especially in the heat, leaving these cloudy water spots that looked way worse than any slip line. Yeah release agent is messy and you gotta wash your boots after, but I'd rather deal with that than have to tell a homeowner why their $4500 patio has patchy discoloration. Plus on a 400 square foot job you're out there in Phoenix where the surface is drying before you even finish setting the next stamp, so adding water just throws off your timing. Release powder might be dusty but it keeps everything consistent batch to batch.
