A full 7 years before I realized I was screeding wrong

I used to pull the screed board toward me instead of pushing it. My foreman at a job in Phoenix watched me for a solid 10 seconds, then asked if I was trying to scoop the concrete out. He showed me the push method that day and now my slabs come out way flatter. Has anyone else been doing a basic motion backwards for years without noticing?

...and he just stood there shaking his head, I felt like an idiot. But hey, at least I figured it out eventually. That same foreman also showed me how to use a magnesium float properly, because I was basically just smearing the surface instead of closing it. Spent a good six months thinking I was getting a nice finish when really I was just making dust clouds. Funny how the little things in concrete work can take years to click.

@wrenh65 made me rethink my whole approach too, always learning out here.
