Hot take: the old CRT monitors we used to haul were way easier to fix than these new flat panels
Last month I was working on a Dell monitor from 2022, had to take the whole back panel off just to check a capacitor. Three years ago I could swap a flyback transformer on a 19-inch CRT in under 10 minutes. Anybody else miss how simple the old gear was to troubleshoot?

Honestly saw a YouTube video saying the same thing, those old CRTs were tanks compared to these fragile flatscreens.

My 19 inch Sony Trinitron survived my little brother dropping a textbook on it and it didnt even flicker lol. These new screens give me anxiety just cleaning the dust off.

Man I felt that in my back lol. Last week I tried to fix a modern monitor and ended up snapping one of those tiny ribbon cables, guess who had to order a whole new panel. With CRTs you could just whack it a few times and it'd either work or die, no in between. I swear my old 17 inch CRT survived three moves and a drop down a flight of stairs, meanwhile my current flat panel gets all weird if I look at it wrong. The flyback transformer swap was literally five screws and a prayer, good times. Now I gotta use a heat gun and hope I don't melt anything, feels like I'm defusing a bomb half the time lmao.
