The vibe at my local comic shop is totally different now than it was in 2012
Back then, it was all about digging through back issue bins and the owner, Dave, would just chat storylines for an hour. Now when I go in, half the floor space is Funko Pops and statues priced over $200. The conversations are mostly about which variant cover is going to be the best investment. I get it, shops gotta make money, but it feels less like a place for fans and more like a collectibles brokerage. Has your shop changed like this too, or is mine just an outlier?

Ugh, totally. My spot got rid of its reading chairs to make room for a whole wall of graded slabs.

Remember when that shop on 7th had two whole aisles of dollar comics? Now it's just a tiny rack by the register. I get why stores do the graded thing, it's where the money is. But like evan_campbell said with the glass case, it just makes the whole place feel less fun to browse. Are people really that into sealed plastic over a book they can actually read?
