I used to think a $15 bag of beans was fancy... now I'm spending $40 on single origin stuff from a local roaster in Portland. When did your coffee budget cross the line from 'treat' to 'hobby'?

Hit that point when I bought a gooseneck kettle. The $30 pourover setup became a $200 one real fast. Now I weigh my beans every morning.

Oh man, that's the slippery slope! So you got the kettle, then a scale... did a fancy grinder come next? I'm picturing you with a whole lab setup, timing the pour and checking water temp. What's the NEXT thing you're eyeing?

Wait, you were making pour over coffee WITHOUT weighing the beans before? How did that even work? I'd be making rocket fuel one day and brown water the next. My whole week would be ruined. That scale is the only thing keeping my mornings from total chaos.
