Question about those flexible rods versus the old sectional poles
I finally caved and bought a set of the flexible fiberglass rods after using heavy metal poles for years. The difference cleaning a tricky offset flue in a 1920s house was night and day, no more banging and scraping trying to get the sections to bend. Anyone have a favorite brand for these that holds up?

Remember those old metal poles were actually better for straight vertical runs. The flex rods can wear out faster if you use them for every job. I still keep a set of sections for simple chimneys.

Switched last year, total game changer.

My buddy in Denver switched to flex rods and had a line snap on a simple residential job last month. Those old solid sections might be heavier, but you can trust them after years in the truck. The new stuff feels like a toy sometimes, and I've seen the ends get chewed up way faster than they say. Maybe for a clean new build, but for real work? Give me the old poles any day.
