PSA: I tried a new camera for inspections and went back to my old one
Everyone says the new digital scopes are better, but my old mirror and flashlight combo is faster for spotting cracks in a flue. I missed a key fault in a Dallas chimney with the fancy screen. What's your go-to inspection method?

Ugh, been there. The glare on those digital screens can totally hide hairline fractures. I always do a final pass with my old mirror and a strong light, just to be sure.

Seriously, it's just a tiny crack. Most of them don't even get worse if you leave them alone. People stress way too much about finding every single one.

Honestly that mirror trick can add its own shadows and blind spots though. The new screens have anti-glare modes that work way better for me. Found a hairline crack last week the old way totally missed. Just feels like trusting the tech with the right settings gets it done.
