My boss told me my work was 'technically perfect but boring' last month
He said my project reports were just data dumps with no clear story for the client. Now I start every one with a single sentence saying what the data means before I show any numbers. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you completely switch up how you present your work?

That's actually a really smart fix... starting with the "so what" before the numbers. Had a client once who just wanted the bottom line up front too. Makes people actually read the rest of it.

Yeah, bottom line up front saves everyone's time.

It's a good way to handle it. People just want the answer first, not the whole process. I see this everywhere now, like how news articles have those key points at the top. We're all too busy to dig for the meaning. Your boss gave you solid advice, even if it was blunt.
