Why I still let my kids watch the banned Ren & Stimpy episode

Everyone in this sub acts like "Man's Best Friend" getting pulled was some huge win for kids, but I watched it at 12 on a grainy VHS my cousin taped in 1993 and I turned out fine. The scene where George Liquor makes Ren hit him with an oar is gross, sure, but banning stuff just makes kids want it more. Did anybody else actually see it back then or are we all just going off YouTube essays?

My older brother had that same taped VHS and we watched it way too many times.

My copy was recorded off TV and had half a commercial break baked into the middle of it. I can still hear that local car dealership jingle every time I watch the real version. Bet your brother could still quote the whole thing line for line.
