Vent: Spent 3 years fighting with coax connectors before a senior tech showed me my mistake
I'd been stripping cable the same way since day one, leaving maybe a quarter inch of center conductor. Last month a 20-year veteran watched me terminate a run and asked why I was making it harder on myself. He showed me a longer strip on a test cable and the signal loss dropped by half. Anybody else learn a basic step backwards from a older guy on site?

Oh man, that's a classic newbie trap (and I fell for it hard too). I spent my first year fighting with loose connections before an old-timer pointed out I was barely giving the jacket any bite. Now I strip way more than I thought I needed and suddenly my signal issues just disappeared.

Same here, once I started stripping a good half inch extra everything just locked in tight.
