My old boss said to always use a 1/4 inch roundover on maple edges, but a client in Tacoma wanted something softer.

He insisted on a 3/8 inch bit for the whole kitchen remodel, and I was worried it would look too heavy. I tried it on a sample door and it turned out perfect, giving a much nicer feel in the hand. Anyone else have a client push them to change a standard detail that actually worked out better?

Totally get it, @elizabethn56. Had a guy beg me for a bigger chamfer on oak stair treads and I fought him hard, but man, it just made the whole thing feel solid and right.

That 3/8 inch roundover on maple is a huge jump from the quarter inch. I would have bet money it would look like a cartoon, all puffy and weird. But you're saying it just feels better, like a really expensive piece of furniture? That goes against everything I was taught about keeping edges light on hardwoods.
