Appreciation post: that old timer at the hardwood supplier in Portland clued me into pre-finishing before assembly
He said 'stop painting yourself into a corner with glue-ups' and now I finish all my panels before I even cut joinery, and I'm kicking myself for the 15 years I didn't do it this way - anyone else switch to pre-finishing and never look back?

Pre-finishing can trap moisture and cause finishing failures later since you can't seal end grain properly.
