My friend in Portland showed me her messy bullet journal and it changed my whole approach
I was visiting my friend Chloe last month and saw her bullet journal on the kitchen table. It had scribbles, coffee stains, and pages that were clearly ripped out. She said, 'This thing is just a tool, not a museum piece. If a page isn't working, I tear it out and move on.' I'd always stressed about making mine look perfect. Now I keep a cheap notebook and don't worry about mistakes. Anyone else start with a fancy journal and switch to something simpler?

That line about it being a tool, not a museum piece, really hits home. I spent so much money on those fancy dotted journals and felt guilty if I messed up a spread. What finally made you pick the cheap notebook and just go for it? Was it just seeing your friend's, or did you have a moment where you realized the fancy one was holding you back?

Oh wow, this is so true! I read a blog post once that called it "productivity theater," where you spend more time making the system look good than actually using it. My first journal had all these color-coded trackers I never checked. Seeing your friend's messy journal must have been such a relief! It really is just a tool to get thoughts out of your head. I switched to a basic composition book and it's so much less pressure.
