My friend told me to track every single coffee purchase for a week
My buddy Mark kept saying I was wasting money on coffee runs. He told me to write down every coffee I bought for a full week, no matter what. I thought it was silly, but I did it. I spent $47 in just five days! Seeing that number on paper was crazy. I didn't even realize I was stopping at the drive-thru that often. Now I make a big pot at home and take it in a thermos. I'm saving about $150 a month just from that one change. Has anyone else tried tracking a small habit and been shocked by the total?

Yeah, tracking the little stuff is the only way to see the real leak. I did it with lunch out and the weekly total was a wake-up call. Now I just pack a lunch and that money adds up fast.

Yeah, she probably never looked at that total before.

My cousin did something similar with food delivery apps. She got one of those year-end summaries from the service and it showed she spent over two thousand dollars. She just kept ordering because it was easy and never added it up. The total completely freaked her out. Now she has a rule where she has to cook if she has groceries at home. It saved her a ton of money once she saw the real number.
