I used to book hotels directly, now I only check the 'map view' on booking sites

I was paying $120 a night for a place in Denver last year. Now I zoom out on the map, find a cheaper neighborhood just one bus stop away, and save $40. Anyone have other map tricks for finding deals?

Map view is a total game changer for that. I always zoom way out along the train or tram lines going into the city center. You can find spots that are a 15 minute ride out but way cheaper, and the transit pass is still less than the hotel mark up. Also, switching the map to satellite view can show you if a "boutique hotel" is really just a motel next to a highway, which has saved me a few times.

Hey @amy154, what's your go-to site for checking transit pass costs?

But what if you don't have time for all that map searching? That method sounds super slow. I just check the official transit website for flat rates because it's fast and you know it's right. Relying on maps can get confusing with different zone lines, and you might pick a cheap spot that's actually a really long, annoying trip every day. Sometimes paying a bit more to be closer is worth saving hours of your vacation.
