Unpopular opinion: I used to think buying bulk was a trap for budget living

Honestly, I was convinced it was just a way to trick you into spending more upfront. What changed my mind was splitting a 25-pound bag of rice with a neighbor and cutting my cost per meal to like 15 cents. Anyone else have a bulk buy that actually paid off?

You're missing the point about the spinach. That giant tub forces you to eat healthy all week because it's there. It's the same logic as the rice. If I buy a small bag, I run out and get takeout. A huge container of spinach means I'm making salads, smoothies, and omelets to use it up. It creates a habit. The waste is maybe a few leaves, but it saves me from a twenty dollar pizza order.

That's not really an unpopular opinion, it's just a common mistake. Bulk buying only works if you have the space to store it and you'll actually use it all before it goes bad. A 25-pound bag of rice makes sense, but a giant tub of spinach from a warehouse club is just throwing money away.
