Used to think calling a plumber was a waste of money. That four hour struggle for a tiny washer changed my mind completely. Sometimes paying for the expert is the real bargain.

Remember trying to fix my own garage door spring because a YouTube video made it look easy. Ended up with a snapped cable and a door that wouldn't budge, trapping my car inside. The repair guy showed up, took one look, and just shook his head. He had it fixed in twenty minutes, but the bill was way more than if I'd just called him first. That lesson about knowing your limits cost me a whole Saturday and a lot of cash.

Yeah, I heard a saying that fits here, something about how the cheap fix gets expensive when you do it twice. @dianas50 has it right, that time and frustration has a real cost too. Knowing when to call it is its own kind of skill.
