Why my $40 vacuum sealed container let me down hard
Bought one of those cheap vacuum seal containers from a discount store last month to keep my coffee beans fresh. Thought I was being smart saving money over the brand name ones. After 3 weeks the lid seal cracked and air got in, made my whole bag of beans go stale overnight. Has anyone found a decent budget option that actually holds up or am I stuck paying more for the good stuff?

You get what you pay for - just buy the real deal once.

Is it really fair to blame the container though? Most cheap stuff works fine if you treat it right, and plastic cracking after three weeks sounds like you might've over-tightened it or dropped it once too many times. Coffee going stale overnight is also pretty unlikely unless you left it out in a humid room, so maybe the beans were already on their way out before you sealed them. I bet if you just buy another cheap one and handle it gently, you'll get the same result as the fancy brands for way less money. What kind of coffee are you storing anyway?
