The neighbor's 6 AM leaf blower rule I finally tried

My old neighbor in Austin swore by blowing leaves at dawn to keep the HOA off his back, and I thought he was just a jerk. Last month I got a noise complaint from the guy two doors down for raking at 3 PM, go figure. So I borrowed the leaf blower at 6 AM on a Tuesday, and nobody said a word, plus the lawn looked better than it has in a year. Turns out everyone in this hood expects the early racket, they just hate it when you work during their Netflix hours. Has anyone else found that breaking the obvious norm like noise timing actually gets you fewer complaints?

Austin's noise ordinance actually starts at 7 AM on weekdays, so you might've gotten lucky with a sleepy neighbor... or the HOA just didn't care that day. The grass does look better with a blower though, that part I'll give you.

Bet the HOA president was still in bed with that one.
