Shoutout to the guy at my gym who told me to stop saying sorry when I need the squat rack
I used to wait 10 or 15 minutes for the squat rack, just standing there, because I felt weird asking someone to share it. A guy named Dave at the gym on Fletcher Ave finally said to me, "You pay the same $30 a month, just ask." So now I walk up and ask to work in between their sets, and 9 times out of 10 people say yes and we just trade plates back and forth. It felt rude at first, like I was cutting in line, but nobody has ever gotten mad about it. Anyone else had a stranger call them out on something small that actually stuck with you?
How long did it take before you stopped feeling weird about it though? I still get in my own head when someone is mid set and I'm just standing there waiting to ask. Did Dave say anything else that helped or was that one line enough to flip a switch for you?
