I finally wore pajamas to the hardware store
I was grabbing a box of breakers at the local supply house on a Sunday morning, still in my flannel pants. The cashier just smiled and said 'rough night?', and I realized nobody actually cared. Has anyone else done something small like that and gotten zero reaction?

Honestly, pajama pants at the hardware store are basically a uniform. I do it all the time. As long as you have shoes on, the staff has seen way worse. It's a quick trip, not a fashion show.

I mean, I saw this whole article once about how wearing pajamas in public is some kind of social shift. Idk, maybe it's just me but I feel like after the last few years, nobody even blinks anymore. It's all about comfort now, and a hardware store is like the last place anyone's judging your outfit. You're just there for a specific thing, not to hang out. So yeah, totally get it.

Look at it this way though. It's not about being judged, it's about basic respect for shared spaces. Walking around in sleepwear tells everyone you couldn't be bothered to put on real clothes for a public place. It sets a low bar. Next thing you know people are rolling in wearing slippers and bathrobes because why not, right? The hardware store is still a business, not your living room. Throwing on jeans takes two minutes and shows you give a small damn about the world outside your house.
