Hot take: pushing elevator buttons for other people isn't polite anymore
I noticed this last Tuesday at the mall downtown. Some guy rushed over and jabbed my floor button before I could reach it, like he was being helpful. But now half the panels are touch screens or need a key fob, so his jab just confused the system and we had to wait for the door to cycle. It used to be a nice gesture back when buttons were simple and you could see what you were pressing. Has anyone else noticed this old norm causing more hassle than help?

Right but is it even still a thing people do on purpose or is it just muscle memory from like 2015? I swear half the time someone jabs at the panel they're just on autopilot and don't even look at the numbers. My building recently switched to a swipe card system and some older lady keeps trying to press the call button for me even though I have to tap my badge on the sensor first. It just makes everyone stand there awkwardly while she stabs the air waiting for the door to open. Like are people aware they're actually making the process slower by jumping in or do they just not care?

Read somewhere it's like a reflex from when elevators were new.
