My aunt told me to stop watering my fiddle leaf fig so much, and she was totally right
For a whole year, I was giving it a big drink every single Saturday, convinced it needed that much. She visited and said, 'Stick your finger in the dirt first, you're drowning it.' I started checking the soil and now only water it maybe every 12 days. It pushed out three new leaves in a month! Has anyone else had a plant totally turn around from one simple change like that?

Plants are tougher than people give them credit for. It probably would have been fine even if you kept watering it weekly. They bounce back from a lot.

Really? I always thought they were more delicate, but you might be right.

My aloe vera went a full month without water last summer. The leaves got thin and wrinkled, but it perked right up after a good soak. Some plants just have a serious will to live.
