Back in 2020 I tried to name every plant in my yard using a free app, now I just ask the old guy at the hardware store.

Remember when we all thought apps would replace everything? I used to scan every weed in my driveway with my phone. Then the app told me my azaleas were poison ivy. The guy at the nursery took one look at my photo and knew exactly what it needed. Sometimes the old way just works better.

Totally get what you mean @benc53. I was all in on those plant apps too until mine swore my tomato plant was a maple sapling.

Oh man, that's perfect. My plant app once confidently told me a dandelion was some rare orchid. I almost started building a greenhouse for it. There's just no beating actual human experience, especially with something as tricky as plants. Those apps are great until they're hilariously, expensively wrong.
