Saw a hand binding setup at the Cleveland Public Library that made me rethink my whole sewing frame
Stopped by the Cleveland Public Library on a rainy Tuesday to kill an hour and they had a small display of old bookbinding tools in a glass case near the archives room. What got me was a wooden sewing frame from around 1900 with these deep grooves worn into the crossbar where the threads had been pulled tight for decades. I've been using a metal frame for 12 years and never thought much about it, but seeing how the wood had basically memorized the motion made me feel like I've been missing something. Anyone here still sew on a wood frame, or did you all switch to metal and never look back?
Wondering if the metal frame actually changed how your shoulders and hands move after all those years on wood. Did the wood frame have a different pull that you can still feel in your arms?
