Spent 3 hours looking for a show last night, gave up and watched the same episode again

I sat down after the kids went to bed around 9 PM thinking I'd find something new to watch. Scrolled through Netflix for about 45 minutes, then Hulu for another 30, then Prime for maybe 20. Couldn't land on anything that grabbed me. Everything looked like a repeat of a show I'd already seen or just not interesting enough to commit to. I ended up watching episode 4 of The Terror again for the third time this month. Has anyone else wasted a whole evening just hunting for a show and then bailed on the search?

Oh honey, this is me every single night lately. It's like you scroll through everything and nothing feels right, just a bunch of shows that look like something you've already seen or don't have the energy to start. Three hours is a long time though, I usually give up after about an hour and a half tops. The rewatch thing is so real too, I've watched the first season of Mindhunter maybe four times now because I can't find anything new that holds my attention. There's just too much stuff out there now, it's overwhelming and then you end up with nothing.

Is it bad that I've actually timed myself before? Like I set my phone timer to see how long it really takes me to give up, and I swear I hit my personal record last week of 47 minutes of scrolling, watching two minutes of a trailer, then going back to scroll some more. I end up just putting on The Office again for the millionth time because at least I know I'll laugh without having to pay attention. The worst part is when you finally pick something, get three episodes in, and realize you've been scrolling your phone the whole time because it's boring you to death. Maybe we all just need to accept that the golden age of TV was like five years ago and nothing new is gonna hit the same.
