My brother told me to skip the first season of 'The Expanse' and I'm glad I listened

He said the first few episodes are a slow burn and the real story kicks off in season two. I started with season two on his advice and got hooked right away by the Martian-Earth conflict. After finishing the later seasons, I went back and watched season one, and it made much more sense with the context. Has anyone else started a show in the middle and found it worked better?

Honestly, I would have argued you needed to start from the beginning. But your take on The Expanse actually makes a lot of sense, since that first season is pretty dense with setup. Maybe some stories are just better when you jump into the deep end first.

Guess my advice is just to skip the boring parts? I mean, I'd probably miss the point of the whole show.

Yeah, @black.joel has a point about the setup. Some shows just throw you right into the good stuff and let you figure it out.
