Can we talk about shows that jump the shark in season 2?

I started this crime drama on Netflix and season one was tight, every episode mattered. Then season two added a love triangle and a long lost brother and it totally fell apart, I dropped it after episode 4. Has anyone else seen a great first season get ruined by lazy writing?

Dude, True Detective season 1 was perfect and then season 2 was just a mess of bad characters and a confusing plot. It went from this amazing moody crime story to some boring cop drama with too many people talking in circles. I barely made it through three episodes. That long lost brother thing you mentioned sounds like a total copout, like they ran out of ideas and just threw darts at a board. Writers need to chill and not mess with a good thing.

Yeah, "threw darts at a board" is pretty spot on. It's like when you try to fix something around the house that's already working fine, you just end up making it weird and more broken than before.

Man it's just a TV show, not that deep.
