Pro tip: Counting my shop's flat repairs hit a weird number

I was cleaning up the workbench last Friday and decided to tally all the flat fixes we've done this year. The number was 327. That's a lot of tubes, but what got me was that over 200 of them were from those little wire belt strands you find in truck tire debris. It made me realize we're basically running a roadside hazard removal service. Do you guys track this stuff, and does it ever make you rethink what you're actually spending your time on?

So are you charging extra for the hazard removal, or is that just a free public service?

Depends on the contract wording. If hazard removal wasn't in the original scope, you gotta bill for it as a change order. Learned that the hard way after eating the cost on a demo job full of asbestos.

Wait, you just ate the cost on asbestos, @victorb74?
