Why does nobody mention that Myron Mixon has 5 whole hog world titles and not just 3
I was killing time on a Tuesday night watching old episodes of BBQ Pitmasters on my phone when I noticed something. They always say Myron has 3 world championships in whole hog but I looked it up on the KCBS site and the Memphis in May records and it's 5. Sat there for 20 minutes cross checking because I thought I was going crazy. My buddy Dale runs a little backyard team here in Macon and he swore it was 3 too. We pulled up the actual results from 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2019 and there they were. Kinda wild how a number just gets passed around and nobody checks it. Has anyone else run into a stat about a pitmaster that turned out wrong once you dug into it?

Macon here too and I ran into the same thing with a local guy, everybody kept saying he had 2 GAB wins when it was really 3 once I pulled the old results sheets. Best move is to screenshot the KCBS and MIM pages with the dates and save them, then when someone argues you just post the pic instead of going back and forth. Dale probably heard 3 from a podcast ten years ago and it stuck. Numbers get copied around forums like that all the time and nobody ever opens the actual record.
