Tried switching to a ceramic blade on my clippers...

I swapped out my regular blade for a ceramic one on a whim last Thursday, and the cut was smoother but the blade chipped after just 3 haircuts. Has anyone else had ceramic blades fail that fast on thicker hair?

Man, ceramic blades sound great until they shatter like my hopes of ever fixing that leaky faucet. Guess I'll stick with my cheap steel replacements, they at least last through a few bad haircuts before giving up.

Hugo, that "hopes of ever fixing that leaky faucet" line hit home. I've been there. But here's the thing with ceramic blades - you gotta treat them like fragile eggs. Don't use them on thick, matted, or really wet hair. They work best on dry, fine to medium hair. I keep a steel pair for the heavy stuff and only pull out the ceramic for quick trims and shaping. Saves me from buying new ones every other month.

You had yours chip too? I trashed a ceramic blade on some thick hair in one session.
