Noticed a real difference in my fades after switching blade sizes mid-cut

I've been messing with the same #2 guard for months on taper fades. Last week I grabbed a half guard and blended into the #1 and man, the line disappeared way cleaner. Took me like 3 tries to get confident with it but now I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. Anyone else find a random adjustment that just clicked one day?

I was dead set on using the same guard all the way through for like a year. Thought switching mid-fade was just extra work for no reason. Tried it on a buddy last weekend after watching a YouTube video and I swear the blend came out way smoother. I started with a #3 then dropped to a #1.5 and it just fell into place. Now I feel dumb for fighting it so long. It's like unlocking a cheat code for your clippers.

Wait, you actually went full one-guard for a year? I was stubborn about this too, but not that stubborn (lol). I always thought switching guards was just showing off or making things harder than they needed to be. But after I finally caved and tried it, man, it was like a light bulb went off. The #3 to #1.5 drop is exactly what I do now and it saves me so much cleanup work on the back of the neck. It's wild how something so simple can make you feel like you've been doing it wrong the whole time.

Had a buddy who swore by the one-guard method for years until he tried switching on his brother's fade and it came out so clean his brother asked if he'd been practicing lmao. @jordan_young you're spot on about that cheat code feeling, it really does make you wonder why you ever fought it.
