My old Wahl clipper finally gave out mid haircut yesterday

I was doing a fade on a regular client around 2pm and the motor just started smoking. Had to finish with my backup Andis that I haven't touched in like 5 years. Got through it but the cut wasn't my best work. Any of you guys keep a spare pair handy or am I the only one who got caught slipping?

Honestly? I used to be one of those guys who thought having a spare was overkill. Thought I could just fix my main one real quick or something lol. But then my Oster motor started locking up on me during a bulk of a taper last month and I was totally dead in the water for like 20 minutes. That changed my whole mindset, I grabbed a backup Wahl right after that. Nothing worse than scrambling mid haircut.

Having a whole backup clipper feels like a lot just for the rare time one breaks. Is a 20 minute scramble really the end of the world?
