I just hit 1000 haircuts in my book and the number felt weird

I was looking at my booking app last night (I use Squire, for what it's worth) and the total haircut count was sitting at 999. I did my first client this morning and watched it tick over to 1000. It's a big round number, but it didn't feel like a party. It just made me think about all the heads, all the conversations, and all the little mistakes you make and fix along the way. I started keeping track about three years ago when I went solo, so that's a lot of fades and trims. The weird part is I can only clearly remember maybe a few dozen of those cuts, you know? The rest just blend into the routine. Has anyone else hit a number like that and had it feel more strange than good?

My old barber hit 10,000 once and just stared at the wall for a solid minute.

Honestly, I started taking a quick phone pic of every cut right after the cape comes off. Just for me. It's not about the portfolio, it's a visual bookmark. Flipping back through that album every few months makes the big number feel real, like I can actually see the work instead of it just being a count.

Yeah, that part about only remembering a few dozen cuts really got me. I feel like that with a lot of things, like the number of times I've made coffee or driven to work. The big count just shows how much of life is the same small thing, over and over, until you hit a number that feels too big to really understand.
