Vent: That $60 bundt pan I bought had a nonstick coating that peeled after 2 uses

Baked a lemon pound cake last Saturday and when I flipped it out, half the cake came with black flakes stuck to it, has anyone else had their nonstick bundt pans fail this fast?

My 60 dollar Nordic Ware bundt pan did the exact same thing after maybe 4 bakes. I was so mad because I spent good money on it thinking it would last forever. What finally worked for me was switching to a vintage aluminum pan I found at a thrift store for 5 bucks. I just grease it really well with butter and flour and everything slides out perfect every time now. Sometimes the old stuff really is better than the new fancy coatings.

Grease a vintage metal pan well, never had peeling problems since.

Mila, I gotta push back a little here because I think Nordic Ware gets a bad rap sometimes. I've had my Nordic Ware bundt pan for like 6 years now and it's still going strong (no peeling at all), but I only hand wash it and never use metal utensils on it. Maybe that's the trick? The one time I put a scratched pan in the dishwasher it came out looking terrible. I bet your thrift store find is solid though, those old pans were built like tanks. Just saying, before writing off all expensive nonstick stuff, might be worth checking how you're cleaning it.
