My stand mixer bowl shattered mid-whipping yesterday
Was making a double batch of buttercream for my sister's wedding cake last night around 9pm. About 3 minutes in on medium speed, the glass bowl just exploded into like 6 pieces. Sugar and butter went everywhere in my kitchen. I ended up rushing to Walmart at 10pm to grab a metal replacement bowl for $35. Has anyone else had a KitchenAid glass bowl just give up on them like that?

Wait, has anyone tried to buttercream-fight cleanup at 11pm with a pissed off cat watching from the counter? Because that's basically what happened at my place last month when a Pyrex bowl blew up on me. I was making mashed potatoes for a potluck and the bowl just went kaboom all over the stove. The weird part was the cat didn't even run, he just sat there staring at me like I was the one who messed up. I ended up scraping potato bits off the ceiling for an hour and the potluck people were not impressed when I showed up with store-bought stuff. Point being, those glass bowls have some kind of built-in self-destruct mode, I swear.

That "built-in self-destruct mode" makes me wonder if these glass bowls have a bad batch date stamp or something. I found out mine was made in 2017 when I was checking the warranty after the explosion, and it had a tiny chip on the rim I never noticed. Pretty sure the stress from cold butter hitting warmer glass during mixing finished the job.
