Oh man, I was just reading this article that called it the most expensive home movie ever made. That's the thing, right? Tommy Wiseau had this real feeling he was making a deep drama about betrayal, and he put every single cent he had into it. The result is this totally honest, weirdly pure thing where every line reading is baffling but you believe he means it. Like the "you are tearing me apart, Lisa" scene has this raw, childish pain that a real actor could never actually pull off. It's bad, but it's bad in a way that feels completely true.

You nailed it, willowadams. That pure feeling is what gets me. He wasn't trying to be funny, he was just putting his whole heart on screen. The way he says "I did not hit her, it's not true, it's bull" has this real confusion that a polished actor would overthink. You can't fake that kind of belief in your own story, even if the story is a mess. It's why people keep watching.

It reminds me of my cousin's high school play. The lead was so serious, but the script was a total mess. We all cried laughing because he was trying so hard to be deep.
