Finally changed my mind on 'The Room' after 10 years of hating it
Saw it at a midnight screening with a crowd that threw plastic spoons and yelled at the screen. I get it now - it's not a bad movie, it's a weird communal experience you can't replicate.

Wait, people in Boise threw spoons at the screen too? That's amazing. I thought that was just a thing the big LA crowds did. You're right though terry, half the fun is hearing everyone yell "Oh hi Mark" at the exact right moment. It's like a weird, shared inside joke with a bunch of strangers. Honestly, I think the movie only really works when you've got 300 other people losing their minds over the football scene.

Is that really the same movie without a crowd screaming "You are tearing me apart, Lisa"? The midnight screening crew basically writes the punchlines for half the scenes. I'd say cheesy soap operas are built for this treatment.

Hold up wait, 350 people showed up to a midnight screening of The Room in Boise last weekend? I thought only like 12 people max went to those things outside of big cities like LA or NYC. Man the cult following for that movie is way bigger than I thought.
